Podcast Research

Which podcast did you choose to listen to and why? How did the host's delivery (pitch, pauses, rate of speaking, and volume) impact the overall effectiveness of the podcast? Was a podcast the best way to communicate this information, or would a video presentation have been more effective?  The podcast I chose to listen to was episode 57 of Crime, Conspiracy, Cults, and Murder. The reason why I chose this particular podcast is because I am interested in true crime/history  and enjoy consuming media regarding it. The host of this podcast is a popular tik toker, which drew me in to her content and I have been a fan of this particular podcast ever since. Since Kallmekris is a popular media creator her overall delivery was very over dramatic and boisterous, meant to catch your attention with visuals and facts that keep you interested. Overall Kallmekris’ delivery kept me interested throughout the podcast, despite the rather macabre content, she manages to approach these topi...

Prensky’s/Kirschner Resear

 1. Voice  to Prensky, what is the immigrant/native divide, and how has it affected how students learn?       According to Prensky, the immigrant/native divide is the disconnect between the Newer generation of young Native Americans and immigrants having a disconnect from the older generation regarding learning and schooling. Prensky states that both digital Immigrants and natives were born from a saturated world, and it is therefore naturally integrated within the way that they think and learn. The disconnect comes from how these digital native and immigrants are taught within an academic setting. Most newer generations want a fast-paced rich learning media tool that could help build real world learning experiences, however Many of these classes are still being taught by the older generation where the teaching is outdated and rather than having fast pace, learning topics or medias, they stick to a Lecture based learning Curriculum, and thus many students h...

Interpersonal Relationships

Hello All!   For this particular blog, I want to discuss an incident that happened within the 2020 pandemic. As we all know, we were all trapped inside and didn’t really have much of a chance to socialize with each other so we all often took the online route when talking to our friends or even meeting new people I myself wanted to meet some new people online and decided to download a particular social media app that is notoriously known for not having a lot of safety guards or features to protect their users however, I was not aware of this at the time through my time on the app, I proceeded to meet my friend. I’m going to call him D for the sake of anonymity. D bonded a lot through a particular game and thus created a friendship through creating art and stories revolving around this particular game. We would talk online, we would text, we would call and overall we integrated into each other’s lives and spoke to each other every single day. However, as time passed, I realized that ...

Oversharing online

I believe that any social media platform has its benefits and drawbacks. Some benefits in my opinion and experience with being a user is sharing important information about the world/politics, finding a sense of community, and sharing experiences from your life that you find interesting. Drawbacks would be unrealistic body images, cyber threats, and even cyber bullying. Social media platforms should not play a role in mental health, if one finds that they are obsessing over a follower account then they need therapy or serious help. Facebook, while a little dated within the various platforms, still promotes unhealthy lifestyles and misinformation, while it can be very effective in building confidence, especially when one has a following. However many humans aren’t built for big platforms and often abuse or mistreat their fans and don’t know how to deal with the fame that comes with attention. By providing its users with suicide prevention hotlines, reinforcing certain guidelines, ...
